Last week I thought the river had reached its peak. Then on Sunday evening it started raining, and it didn’t stop until last night, and with what all the waterways being already full with meltwater, the effect was immediate on the river. I swear if I had been able to sit by the window for 30 minutes, I would actually have seen the water rise. It was that happening that quickly.
I had been wondering what it takes to cover the big rock in the middle of the river, now I know. It didn’t get 100% covered (unless it happened last night because the water has been receding all day today) but occasionally when the water surged, it washed over the rock completely. But still, this is nothing unusual – I think the unusual thing happened last year when the water level never got very high, because of the exceptionally cold May. But for me who is seeing this for the first time, it’s very interesting to see the changes!
