Waffle time

I was running out of paint so I drove to Funäsdalen to get some more. Since it feels a bit wasteful to drive all the way there just to get paint, I then drove to Bruksvallarna to do a small hike. To Kariknallen, which has a season opening today… gotta have a waffle! It turned out that I was their first customer. One hour after they opened doors, so not a lot of people today.

I was hoping to do some macro work on the way up, because the trail up to Kariknallen goes through some very good orchid grounds. But it was still spring up there, it’s the first time I’ve seen snow on the trail by the time the waffle cabin opens. Absolutely no orchids and hardly any other flowers either. But then I found a batch of wolf’s bane, the biggest leaves are about 50cm high by now (the plant can grow up to 1.5m high) but the young leaves are furled which gave me some opportunities.

I wonder when summer will arrive here… it was 8 degrees when I left the car and the northerly wind sure didn’t do any favours. It appears to get a bit warmer next week, but still no proper summer temperatures. Which is ok by me, it’s good for hiking. As long as the snow disappears and flowers come up, I’ll be happy.
