Torrgraven

I took the bike to the trailhead to Öjevallen about 4 km west from Messlingen. Left the bike there and hiked up to Öjevallen and found that there’s a path going towards the Torrgraven ravine so that was easy. Except, when I got to the ravine the sign said Storbäckengraven. Hmm. Last year when I tried to find Öjegraven, I ended up at Storbäckengraven as well. And it’s not even that interesting.

But no problems, the ravines are very close to each other so I just turned to the right and found Torrgraven. The further up the ravines you go, the closer together they get so at some places you can see them both from the same spot. I ended up zigzagging between the ravines, trying to find some interesting features and not being very lucky with that. Last year when I visited Storbäckengraven I said I was totally unimpressed and I have no reason to change my mind now, especially when I walked up and down almost the whole length of it. But at least I got a better picture than last time when I climbed inside the ravine. Or stepped inside, it really isn’t that deep or the cliffs that steep.

But Torrgaven then, the reason I came here in the first place. Well… it’s smaller than Storbäckengraven. Can we leave it at that? The only other thing I can think of saying is that there’s a brook running through the ravine. Torrgraven means ”dry ravine”, supposedly because there’s no water in it. Hmm. Maybe it’s just the snowmelt then.

Eight ravines done, two to go.
