I finally made it to Bruksvallarna! After missing it twice two weeks ago when my car broke down. Now I have a rental car, so I don’t have to ski the same Ånnfjället trail every weekend. Of course it figures that when I finally can freely choose my location, the weather is not so nice which limits the options. Yesterday was quite windy so I thought it’s best to stay on lower ground and I chose the trails between Bruksvallarna and Ramundberget. There’s one trail on the west side of the river and another on the east side so I could ski a loop.
Today the wind wasn’t quite so bad so I opted for more open ground and skied to Ösjöstugan from Bruksvallarna. The waffle cabin is under new management and I’ve heard great things about their menu so I had to check it out. However, no waffle for me – I think in the past few years I have somewhat over-sampled the waffles so they don’t taste quite as good as they used to. The good news is of course that there are other nice things to eat so I had a cinnamon bun today at Ösjöstugan, and it was one of the most delicious cinnamon buns I’ve ever tasted! Chances are that I’ll visit the waffle cabin again before the season is over. 😉
My car by the way, it’s in Östersund at the Nissan garage. The repairs are going to be insanely expensive, it apparently takes two whole days to fix/replace the turbo and a valve of some kind (I didn’t quite catch which one and to be honest, I don’t care). They don’t have two whole days until mid-February! I sure hope my insurance covers both the repairs, and the rental – I know I can keep it for 7 days by default, but if I need it longer, I need to negotiate with the insurance company. So I guess I’ll be calling them tomorrow, by then they should also be able to say if they cover the repairs, or what my options are. I’m already looking for a new car…
