It was another clear night so I headed back to the same night photography spot as on Saturday. There were no clouds, except towards the end of my session when a thin strip showed up in the north, not enough to be bothersome but it did catch the light pollution. And speaking of that, it seems like there’s no avoiding the lights even when the sky is clear, as illustrated by first picture. It’s looking to the east and the eastern sky is rather boring, except for Arcturus and Mars. Arcturus is the bright star in the middle and Mars is low on the horizon, down to the right from Arcturus. Had I waited a bit longer, I would have seen Spica rising close to Mars, which could have been quite interesting. You can’t see it in this picture, but Mars is quite visibly red, while Spica has a blue tint.

And I really hate the airplanes… it’s almost impossible to get a frame without any light streaks from planes! So for every composition, you need to shoot several frames to increase the odds to get one without any streaks. Or curse yourself to have a good composition spoiled by an unclonable streak.
