What a wonderful week it has been! Who would have thought that I would enjoy Gotska Sandön more than Greenland? Because truthfully, that’s what I feel. Greenland was … icebergs and tundra and chained dogs. Gotska Sandön is beaches, dunes, forests, flowers, trees, and a total immersion in the surroundings. Greenland remained distant – I got to see the icebergs from the land, the sea and the air but I didn’t touch a single of them.
So it was with a bit of regret that I left the island, but since I had already decided on the first day that I will come back next summer, it was ok.
The boat didn’t leave until late afternoon so I had time for one more walk to shoot flowers. I was happy to discover a yellow bird’s nest that was partly above the ground already. It doesn’t look like much but I think it’s a fascinating plant and since it doesn’t grow up north, it was very special to see it!
