We have a lot of roe deer around here, more than I ever saw in Föne. I’ve seen them regularly walk past the house and amazingly, they are not as shy here as they were in Föne. A few times I’ve come surprisingly close while walking or cycling on the driveway and the animals just look me instead of running away. I’ve never tried to approach them though and quite frankly, it’s not needed either – they come close enough to the house so I can just sit on the stairs and shoot. Which I’ve never done until today.
Anyway, during the winter, I’ve usually seen a group of five roe deer. A couple weeks ago it was six, today there were suddenly eight of them and now in the evening when the sun was already setting, I counted 10! They are grazing on the field so I reckon that ”our” fields have melted the most which provides the roe deer easy access to food during this time when nothing has started growing yet. I’ve also often seen them trying to get to the hay that’s reserved for the cows, and this is probably what explains why these roe deer are not as skittish as I’m used to seeing them.
