With the snow as it is, I’m depressed even by the thought of shooting landscape at home. But with the new camera, I have to find something meaningful to shoot and thus we drove to Hornslandet today. There’s snow, but not at the water’s edge and the water is open as well, so it sure didn’t look like February. 12 years ago I visited Hornslandet in February and there were thick slabs of ice on the shores and it was horrendously cold… today the sun came out for a brief moment, and it could as well have been the end of March.

I seem to be unlucky with the light every time I visit Hornslandet. Our first stop was at Kuggören and the sun was behind some thin clouds. During our second stop, the sun was out fully but the direction of the light was totally wrong for the place, because the best direction to shoot mean that the sun was behind our backs, casting long shadows right into the wideangle frames. So then we drove to Hölick and walked to the peninsula south of the village but by then the direction of the light didn’t matter because the light bulb was behind clouds.

Regardless, it was very nice. And the best part was getting to know the new camera and the wideangle zoom. It’s all good. 🙂
