Effort

A rainy day, one of the many on this vacation I think… there’s more to come. But in the afternoon when the clouds were lifting a little bit, I drove out to Västra Storbäcken which is a nice little creek running down from Flatruet to the Mittån river. When you take the road between Mittådalen and Messlingen, you see some waterfalls on the north side of the road a few km from Mittådalen, that’s V:a Storbäcken. And then if you want to take a closer look, you follow the path upstream on the right side of the creek. Well, this time I wanted to see what happens downstream from the road, and followed the creek down to Mittån. I found a couple of waterfalls but they didn’t have enough detail to make them interesting, but most of the time it just falls down gently like in the picture. When I reached the river, I just looked around me and walked straight back up to the road again. Nothing to see here folks, go home. But that’s how it goes. You need to put the effort in checking these different spots, and once in a while you find something that makes it all worth it. Today was not it.

Since it had been such a short hike, I decided to drive to a spot which I had found on previous visits. But by now I had a massive headache (I slept really bad last night and I suspect that I’m not drinking enough water again) and I had a hard time feeling inspiration about anything else than cutting my head off, until I found this lovely pair of mountain birches. I managed to get a few compositions until it started raining again, which was maybe a bit of a relief because it gave me an excuse to give up for the day. Now I just hope that I will sleep better tonight so the headache will be gone in the morning, because pain killers didn’t even make a dent in it. Anyway, I have to visit this pair of birches again in some better conditions because the potential is clearly there.
