Thunderstorms are pretty common this time of the year. I’ve never fallen a victim of one until today though – it fried my tv. I had switched it off, but not disconnected from the mains power. Suddenly I heard it crack and a moment after, I heard the thunder right by my house. Naturally I disconnected it from the power but it was too late by then… But thinking about it now, I’m not sure if it would have made any difference anyway. The DVD player seems to be fine (although naturally I can’t check it because I don’t have a tv…) and it was connected to the same outlet. I think it was just simply the huge magnetic discharge that got the tube.Anyways, always look for the silver lining. I’ve been wondering for a while now what it would be like not to have a tv. It’s just simply too easy to sit in front of it, even when there’s nothing that I really want to see. Now’s my chance to try it, because I’m not sure how I can get a new one – this is the worst possible year for this kind of expenses. I’ve already ordered a new car, and then I’m having a once-in-a-lifetime holiday in September. My budget is stretched as it is.
Oh well. At least I don’t have to watch Germany win the World Cup. Football is a game where you play for 90 minutes, and after penalties, Germany always wins…
