I don’t know if I have any record about doing nothing, but I must’ve been very close to it today. I was feeling lazy, after two days of cycling to work and then cycling some more yesterday, I just did not feel like getting up on the bike again. And with zero ideas for pictures, it was pointless to walk either or take the car. Just goes on to show how much I depend on photography – without inspiration to shoot, there’s no inspiration to lift my butt from the couch.

Then it started raining and I figured I might be able to do something about the raindrops on … whatever I could find around the house. I found a small apple tree in bloom in the garden, the big ones are already over bloom but this little one is quite literally a late bloomer. Because of the small size of the tree which means lack of branches, it was easy to isolate the blossoms to get smooth backgrounds. As I was circling around the tree and got the green background in one direction and the red wall of my house in the other, I realised that I probably like the smooth background more than the subject. I think I could easily just shoot 100% out of focus, no subject, just colour, and be happy. How much more quiet can a picture get? Not sure if anyone else would understand though…
