The stuff that winter dreams are made of! Mild temperatures and sunshine up on my favourite mountain. I didn’t even miss my skis while snowshoeing on Ånnfjället yesterday!
I was a bit worried at first that the sky would be fouled up by contrails and the thin high cloud that was partly covering the sun. But it turned out great anyway and by the evening the sun had gone below the thin cloud, which finally gave me a chance to do some sunbursts which I had been looking forward to. If there’s such a thing as the right season to do sunbursts, it feels like this is it!
I also found that the reindeer have arrived already. There was a whole lot of tracks, with patches of snow kicked out to reveal the meager vegetation underneath. Tough animals to survive on that menu!
The weather was very much different today, with a total cloud cover. My landlord gave me a lift up to Ånnfjället (nice) but the weather being what it was, I wasn’t too inspired to walk around up there. I just followed the trail a bit and when the cloud cover seemed to be getting lower, I turned back because the peaks were no longer visible. But today I really did miss my skis, I walked home following the ski trail and it hurt every time somebody skied past me. Next weekend…
