Easter is a bit late this year, but there’s plenty of snow left in the mountains and the weather forecast is looking good. It didn’t start off too well though, it was overcast and a bit windy so I didn’t have any ambitions to reach the tundra today and settled with following one of the prepared tracks in Messlingen. Not many photo ops as expected but I was determined to use my new lens and found a spot or two. Tomorrow should be really good though!

The lakes are still iced over but the creeks are opening up. The trail I was following ended up in open water but I saw that other skiers had followed the creek up and found to my horror that they are using a narrow strip of frozen snow that still reaches across the water – you can see this in the middle of the picture. When I got to the ”bridge” it wasn’t as bad as it seemed from the side, but I crossed over the way I always do when I’m feeling insecure – go fast and think happy thoughts!
