Once again, the whole nation came to a standstill. There is nothing that will flock the Finns in front of the television than an ice hockey playoff match against our dear rivals, Sweden. Alas, still no gold for the Finnish team but playing for the Olympic bronze medals with this team is an achievement to be proud of!

It’s strange… I can cheer for the Swedes in every other sport except ice hockey. I have tried, really tried, to get over it but it’s impossible. I am a Finn to the core and nothing will ever change that, not even the Swedish passport I will have to get next year when my Finnish pass expires.

What about the crappy picture, I hear you ask? Well, I have some network issues and the match was streaming at around 200 kbs, which means that the quality is so bad so you can’t even see the puck (note that the monitor frame is sharp so it’s just the picture inside the picture which is mushy). I actually found it to be a bit of a relief in the end; when your side is losing, you’re better off with a fuzzy picture!
