Top 10 Songs All Time #9

Most of the music I listen to has no relation to me lyrically. The lyrics can be about anything really, and the only thing that matters is how the song sounds. Vocals are just an instrument among others. But then there are songs which I actually love mostly for the lyrics, and Sunny Came Home is one of them. Sunny burns down her house to wipe out the past, and I desperately wish that I could wipe out mine.

It’s not that a lot of horrible things has happened to me – far from it, I’ve actually been really lucky and there’s been a lot of happy coincidences that have brought me here to the mountains which is a dream come true for me. But the way my mind works, I have a tendency to remember only the negatives, going all the way back to my childhood. In fact, as far back as I can remember at all. So I have to re-live everything unpleasant that’s ever happened to me over and over and over again, because my mind just won’t let go and I don’t know how to force it to let go. Except when I listen to music or watch a movie… or go hiking or skiing or mountainbiking. Those things keep me alive. But at the end of the day –

Dry is good and wind is better
Count the years, you always knew it
Strike a match, go on and do it

Oh, days go by, I’m hypnotized
I’m walking on a wire
I close my eyes and fly out of my mind
Into the fire
