- Song: Cose della vita
- Artist: Eros Ramazzotti with Tina Turner
- Year: 1997
Cose della vita was originally a solo single from Eros Ramazzotti, sung completely in Italian, and released in 1993. I liked the original, but didn’t think it was anything super special. The duet version with Tina Turner was released in 1997 and I didn’t actually know anything about it until a few years later when I decided to search for some old songs I remembered I liked at the time, but didn’t have in my music library. I don’t know what happened, but I instantly fell in love with the new version! I think part of the credit goes to Tina Turner, but I’m not enough of a fan to like a song just because she’s on it. I don’t even like all of her own songs (although We Don’t Need Another Hero is almost a contender for this Top 10 list).
To me, this song seems to flow effortlessly. I really wish I could put a musical term to it that everybody understands, but I can’t. I’m not even sure if anybody else hears this ”flow” I’m talking about. It’s like… water. Not a waterfall, not whitewater, but that gentle movement where you see the water flow over the rocks without breaking the surface. One note leading into the next one and I can never pause or stop the song once I start listening to it, because I don’t want to break the flow. I have no idea what he sings about in Italian, and I don’t care – this is one of those songs where the words are only incidental. I didn’t even know what ”Cose della vita” meant until I read it on Wikipedia now when I created the link above. I just let the music carry me away!
