Birding problems

Did a quick trip to see if the cranes and red-throated divers are back – and they are! The tarn where the cranes are is still covered with ice, but the red-throated divers’ tarn has melted fully. It’s a popular place, I saw common golden-eyes, mallards and best of all, tufted ducks, before I spotted the divers. I didn’t have any tufted duck pictures in my catalogue, so I’ll keep this one, even with the ugly broken water.

I had some trouble with the Sony A6300+adapter+Tamron combo. The first time I used it, it stopped focusing after a while but I noticed that it is a communication problem between the lens and camera, so if I just re-click the adapter and lens back in place, focusing starts working again. But this time it wasn’t so easy – the focus frequently stopped working even when I separated all pieces and removed the battery. It was pretty frustrating and when I got home and just simply re-attached the lens to the adapter, focus was snappy and happy as if nothing ever was wrong. So I think I have to re-consider my earlier decision to sell the Canon 7D2 after my Svalbard-trip. It doesn’t cost me anything to keep it, so I’ll just sell my other Canon lenses and wait for someone to make a decent tele for Sony E-mount before I finally get rid of the 7D2. Having three cameras is not exactly what I had mind two years ago… but that’s unfortunately the mess where I got myself now.
