Snow is gone

I can see Ånnfjället and Gråstöten from my flat. It’s not only very cool (Ånnfjället is one of my favourite mountains!) but it’s also been interesting to see how long time it takes for the snow to melt. When I moved here, they were covered in snow, just a few black patches. Then it snowed and they were completely covered for a couple of days! And with the cold summer, the snow hasn’t been melting very rapidly, until now in the past couple of weeks it’s been really warm (I’ve been cycling in shorts and t-shirt) and the last patch of snow on Gråstöten is finally, finally!!, gone.

patch of snow
This picture is from July 22. You can see the patch of snow I’m talking about on the right, it’s just a sliver of snow really but it’s been very persistent.
And this is today
And this is today. I needed binoculars to see the snow yesterday morning, and I think it disappeared some time in the afternoon but by then the mountain is shaded on this side.
