Sunset rainbow

I took my 365 (or what I intended to be such) during the day today so I could pack my camera, ready for tomorrow. I don’t like last minute packing, that’s just an invitation to forget things so I prefer to pack early and then in the morning I just need to doublecheck I have everything (paranoid of forgetting things, that’s me) and leave.

Anyway, then just before sunset, things started happening. It was raining quite a lot, but there was a gap in the horizon where the sun was setting and the clouds were taking on a beautiful colour. So I had to dig out the camera from the pack because it’s just criminal to miss a good sunset. The dahlias were backlit in the last rays of the sun so I took another picture of them, and you can see that they look even more sad after all the raining.

They withered so quickly on Tuesday… they were in full bloom on Tuesday morning but covered in frost, and withered and brown when I came home from work.

Then I looked to the east, and saw a rainbow from end to end and what’s even more amazing was that the rainbow was still there even after the sun had disappeared behind the horizon.

But the clouds were rapidly moving away and the gap was becoming too big for any more interesting colour so I tucked the wet camera under my coat and went back in. Can I just please get a sunset like this in Iceland so it won’t go to waste like it did today?
