After painting the second coat of primer (picture in tomorrow’s post), the door looked a bit better. It doesn’t hold up for closer scrutiny but I’m confident it will look great after two coats of white paint.

Since my knee felt ok after yesterday’s small hike, I wanted to do longer hike today. I didn’t have any good ideas about where I would go though but in the end it didn’t matter, all I needed was to get the distance. I finally decided to pay another visit to the Svartmorgraven ravine, it’s a nice 14 km hike. I really like walking on Flatruet, there’s not a lot of that annoying low bush (juniper, willow, dwarf birch) that can kill the joy of any hike and as long as you stay on the eastern side of the Flatruet road, there’s not so much wetland either so you can avoid all the difficult passages with just minor course adjustments.

Of course, it would start raining just before I got to Svartmorgraven, but the benefit with these rocky canyons is that you can always find a cliff overhang that will protect you from the rain. So I sat down to have some coffee and after the second cup, the raining stopped.

My knee was still feeling ok (not 100% fit, but not hurting either) and after a while I all but forgot the knee because I was getting a blister in my left heel again. My new Haglöfs hiking boots… I just haven’t been able to figure out how to prevent chafing. And that’s why I was wearing them today, I needed to find out exactly where the problem is so I can fix it and use these boots for longer hikes. As it was, 14 km wasn’t enough to develop a proper blister but the skin sure looked angry red. But, the most important thing though, I will give my knee a green light for overnight hikes!
