Picked some berries in the garden today – raspberry, blackcurrant, redcurrant, gooseberry and wild strawberries, trying to get enough berries to make jam. I was counting on the raspberries but it is not a good year for them, they’re not very many and only about half the normal size. And my landlord had cut many of the raspberry bushes around my house so I was facing a serious berry shortage, which left me only one option which was to head into the woods and find some blueberries. Either it’s a really bad blueberry year, or the pro berry pickers had already been there because it was incredibly hard to find any bushes with more than just the odd berry on them. Then I found this one bush with a lot of berries and concluded that the pickers had been there and just simply missed a few bushes here and there… so I managed to fill up my berry quota.
