50

My 365 project has reached #50 so I thought I would take a look at how it’s gone. I think the “terms” I set in the beginning was a mistake, or at least overly ambitious. I should’ve known that I would be forced to do a lot of shooting indoors and I know I totally suck at it (largely because I have no motivation to get any better at it). But I did predict that I would produce a lot of crappy pictures during this project so I did get that right!

But the ultimate motivation to do this whole thing was to force myself do something. Even if the picture is bad, I still have to put some effort in creating it and write the story that goes with the picture. Say for example those “souvenir” pictures, it was actually a lot of fun to look back and remember the travels, I haven’t done it in many many years.

There are days I come home from work and I have zero ideas about the day’s picture and I’m half tempted to give up. But in a way those days are the core of this project, that’s when I have to push myself to do that something instead of just sitting on my butt and wasting time, waiting for the weekend so I can live a little again.

And today’s picture. Yes, it’s one of those days when I had zero ideas. But since I’m so proud of the new Tamron zoom, why not show it off a bit more… it’s a tight fit in the Lowepro Flipside Sport AW 10L but it works. This kit is going to the zoo with me on Saturday!

The night picture is from last night, I saw an aurora alert just before I would go to bed so instead of hitting the sack, I hit the road. It didn’t get better than this green glow but the clear nights have been so rare this winter that I’ll take anything I get. The rising moon provided the foreground light.
