When it rains

Well, I said it would rain. It sure did today. I only managed to get to Kappruskaftet when it started, and it didn’t take long before it got really bad. Heavy rain, heavy wind, my clothes were put to test and so was my backpack. I had opted not to get the rain cover for the Loka because the material repels water as it is, but it’s not completely waterproof. But the camera survived today’s trek and this is as bad as I will ever put it through, because as much as I like walking in the rain, I do have a limit and it got very close to it today. Especially the last few km when the water had seeped through my pants and my fingers were freezing, it was not very pleasant. But what the heck, it’s hikes like this that I will remember, rather than the boring overcast-but-not-raining hikes like the one on Saturday.

As for photography, it was difficult of course. My compositions were limited because I could only shoot with the wind on my back, or the lens would have been covered with drops (the rain was almost horizontal because of the wind). It’s a pity because now I found that the colours were a whole lot better than they had seemed on Saturday. But that’s thanks to the rain, it has a way of bringing out the colour. If only I could’ve made use of it… but I knew it would be like this, so I’m glad I got at least a couple of frames before the conditions got the best of me.

The weather forecast says that it will not rain tomorrow. Much. There’s even a chance of seeing a bit of the sun… and I can tell you, just that one ray of light on a beautiful landscape would make the day!
