Sunny

I had to drive to Fågelsjö today to take down my exhibition. The forecast said that the morning would be part cloudy, so I had hopes of capturing some waterfall images at Svartån, the stretch that I visited last November when it was too late in the season to get anything sensible done. And everybody who has read this blog knows that I prefer my waterfalls in overcast light… so my heart sank when the cloud cover suddenly disappeared when I arrived in Loos. I mean, it was like it was cut with a knife. Totally overcast in the east, blue sky in the west. I don’t think I’ve ever been as disappointed about sunny weather as I was right then! But as I was driving towards Fågelsjö, I saw how all the mires were covered in yellow grass. It lifted my mood, I just needed to trade my waterfall plans for mires instead.

After fetching the pictures, I drove to Svartåmyran in Hamra NP. The cold nights we’ve been having have taken care of almost all the mosquitoes so it was really pleasant to be walking around the mire in the sunshine. It was so warm that I soon felt the sweat trickle down my back… it’s like September was warmer than the summer was!

Since it was such a nice day, I thought I should check out those waterfalls anyway. Even if I couldn’t take any pictures, it would be a good day out. And sure enough, I couldn’t resist taking some pictures, even when I knew it wouldn’t be anything good. The extreme contrast is too messy for me, I doesn’t matter how soft the water is but there’s just no way that these pictures will ever be ”quiet” enough for me. But, they are memories of the warm September day.

And of course, all this means that I have to go back there, maybe it will be 3rd time lucky for me. I will shoot those waterfalls!
