Flatruet
Flatruet

I had no idea what to do today. There is one subject matter I have not touched all week and that’s waterfalls and I did kind of think of shooting at a brook nearby, but the day was too sunny for that (can’t complain though). So I spent the morning taking care of some odds and ends at the cabin and in the afternoon I drove to Flatruet. I wanted to see if I could shoot the ground colours here, having had trouble with it on the Svartmorgraven hike earlier this week. But Flatruet is at a higher altitude so there’s less dwarf birch here and most of the dwarf birch have lost their leaves already. So I just walked around a little bit, mostly just to kill time. My main target of the day was the mires around Anåkroken by the road. I was not going to do any hiking to speak of, just walk around in this area I knew for sure would provide a lot of photo opportunities.

To be honest, I’m just fine with my vacation winding to a close. As it has happened so many times before, it only takes a week of intensive hiking and shooting and I’m pretty much done. So much so that even when I saw that a couple of rain clouds looked very interesting in the sunset light, I just couldn’t be bothered to find a spot and shoot because not only would I have needed to get out of the warm car but I would also have needed to switch the lens which was just simply too much for my energy level… I just wanted a cup of tea instead! Why couldn’t these nice clouds happen on Sunday or Monday or Tuesday or Thursday when I was specifically out to shoot at sunset? Maybe that’s why… I know that Mother Nature doesn’t care about me or my endeavours but sometimes I think that she does play a joke on me!
