Rainy today, so it’s perfect for a visit at the zoo. I now have the year pass so it doesn’t really matter if I don’t get any pictures, at least I get to walk a few kilometres which is far better than watching movies at home.

When it’s raining, it means that there’s not a lot of light either. Shooting anything in the middle of the forest was hopeless, I will just simply refuse to go beyond ISO 800 because the noise will make the pictures so fuzzy anyway that there’s nothing to gain for the faster shutter. Even when there was no trees to block the light, I was still dealing with such slow exposures that I had reason to be happy to get anything sharp at all. So all things considered, the expectations were very low.

The red fox was a no-show again. I can’t even remember when I’ve seen it the last time, but it’s four years since I got any pictures of it. Not that it matters, it was just way too dark for any pictures anyway.
At the wolf enclosure, I wanted to get some pictures of the cubs. I was waiting until the feeding time, only to find out that the wolves apparently over-ate yesterday so none of them showed up for grub. But I did get to see the cubs, even if they kept far back. They are starting to get big now… while the cute factor is diminishing.

Just when the wolf feeding started, the raining intensified. I mean, it was really just pouring down and although both me and the camera were protected, the whole exercise was rapidly becoming a mission impossible. When I saw that the wolves were not coming for food, I made my exit, with a brief stop at the wolverine enclosure. I was out of the zoo at 13:30 which is probably the earliest I ever got out of there!
When I came home, I found the red fox. Ironic, it’s easier to photograph a wild fox than a captive one…
